My Birthday Bash

My garden pawty today was truly spectacular. With a birthday surprise I could never have imagined.
Mama said it would be special! She didn’t disappoint. But then she never does.
My day started with a VIP grooming. I hate to admit it was worth all the discomfort because when it was finally over, I felt more handsome than usual, maybe even stylishly GQ-ish, having chosen my blue polka-dot bow tie as my outfit of choice.
I found out en route that my pawty was being hosted at Mama's cousin. She lives just down the street from our house. I'd heard lots about my Aunty Bev — who's not just Mama's cousin but her soul sister and BFF — so it made pawfect sense that this was where we were headed.
The minute I met Aunty Bev and Uncle David, I knew I'd love them. But I'll tell you why another time — right now, there was a pawty to get to and a cake to it.
I was so excited running into their beautiful garden. There were three blue balloons, and presents of all sizes, and a birthday cake in the shape of a bone, made with heaps of love by none other than my Aunty Bev.
But just as I expected, before I could get to any of this, I had to pose for lots of photos – patiently taken by my new Uncle David.
“Mama,” I said, “this is the best birthday ever. Thank you for making my garden pawty pawfectly pawsome.”

“It’s a pleasure, Floof, but there’s one more surprise I have for you. I want you to meet someone very special. Someone I think you’ll love very much.”
And with pawfect timing, as if it had all been rehearsed, I saw Cleopatra Prada walking out of the house and heading my way. My heart skipped more than a thousand beats. My paws got all sweaty, and my mouth kind of dry. She was absolutely gorgeous, and I could hardly believe I’d be celebrating my birthday with the most beautiful pup I’d ever seen.
Now I was the one who wanted photos taken — and I was happy to pose for more than a dozen. So, I dashed off to find my Uncle David before Cleopatra Prada disappeared or my hair got all floofy.

My afternoon was filled with taking photos and eating cake. And opening presents and eating cake. And staring at Cleopatra Prada and eating cake.
I could not have wished for a more sensational day in the most beautiful garden, with the kindest people you could ever imagine. I was surrounded by warmth, and love, and so much generosity. And just maybe, because I wore my blue polka dot bowtie and shared my cake, I'd soon have a BFF and most gorgeous girlfriend.
And as I lay next to Mama, drifting off to sleep, after the most pawfect day, three things were certain: I couldn't get Cleopatra Prada out of my mind. I knew I'd have the sweetest of dreams. And tomorrow, I would be extra brave and ask Cleopatra Prada if she'd be my one and only Valentine. Toffy xoxo
